On this occasion Director AIIMS Padmashree Prof. Ravi Kant ji said that along with science, there is art in our medical system. Medical students must imbibe art as well as science to achieve success in their medical profession, only then they can give better medical services to the patients.
He told that in the medical system, there is a change in the method of medicine, treatment method and testing in every five years, but there is no change in the art adopted in this system. Therefore, the doctor has to be proficient in the art of efficient behavior and better relations with the patient. He says that in India, the aspect of art present in medical science has started decreasing.
AIIMS Director Padmashree Prof. Ravi Kant said that art of medicine would be adopted through soft skills like creative writing, music, drama etc. to make the medical students proficient in the knowledge of practical skills towards the patient, for which the Department of Professional Development and Hymnity in AIIMS Institute has been set up. He emphasized that it is necessary for the doctor to have the ability to convey his point properly to the patient and his family members. In addition, he should have a sense of social responsibility and knowledge of good behavior with his colleagues.
